It’s time again for The St. Margaret’s Bay Regatta (TSMBR). Set sail in our annual keelboat competition tailored for both hard-core racers and chill cruisers. Enjoy more racing on Canada’s premier sailing waters and round out your weekend with great food and fun entertainment!
CRW
As this event occurs on the weekend before Chester Race Week, it makes it an ideal shakedown opportunity for those going to Mahone Bay. With this in mind…
NEW THIS YEAR - CHESTER RACE WEEK 2-PART FEEDER COMPONENTS!
A small diversion into St. Margaret’s Bay during your boat’s delivery provides not only an additional competitive dimension but also the opportunity to join another group of sailors for a well-deserved break of rousing fun!
Saturday, August 10: RNSYS start for boats coming from the Halifax area, SMSC finish - join us for the pub, dinner and live music.
Sunday, August 11: SMSC start for boats heading to Chester - join us for breakfast before heading out.
COMPETITION
TSMBR is a great event for sailors of all levels. For vessels competing solely in our traditional Regatta, PHRF ToT races will be held under three classes. The split between A and B fleets will be determined after the close of registration. There will be also be a C (‘Cruiser’) class for those boats racing white-sail only.
Up to three races will be held for each class starting at 12 noon on Saturday, August 10th and Sunday August 11th. Those boats continuing on to Chester will have a separate start on Sunday at 10 am with a finish at CYC.
SERVICES
Moorage for visiting boats will be provided free of charge for three nights over the Regatta (Friday, August 9th through Sunday August 11th) and a total of a further 7 days at a discounted rate per day before or after the Regatta. All moorage must be arranged in advance and is subject to availability.
Tender services will be available for visiting boats.
Please call our club manager Janessa Baxter at 902 823 1089 or email her at operations@smsc.ca to make advance reservations for a mooring.
FOOD & ENTERTAINMENT
On both Saturday and Sunday morning the espresso bar opens at 8:00 am followed by breakfast between 8:30 - 10:30.
After Saturday’s races, join us for refreshments and race replays at the clubhouse starting at 5 pm. The catered dinner begins at 6:30 with live music by The Persuaders from 7 - 11.
Food and entertainment is by advance ticket purchase only.
REQUIREMENTS
The person in charge (ordinarily, but not necessarily the entrant) of a competing boat must be a member of a club affiliated with Sail Canada. If not, select the “Competing Vessel - Non-Sail Canada Affiliation” registration option as this offers a $30 event-only SMSC membership for entrants who are not a member of a club or organization recognised by Sail Canada.
