FAQs
Can I take advantage of social activities at other Ironbound League clubs?
Yes, if you are an SMSC Member in good standing, and you have received permission from the other club, then you may partake in the social activity at the other Ironbound League club. Ensure you take your SMSC Membership card with you to the other club.
Can I stay two free nights on a mooring or slip at other Ironbound League Clubs?
That depends. You must follow the following steps:
Confirm that you are a Full Member in good standing. Your Membership Card will indicate your membership type. This benefit is not available to Social Members.
Call or email our SMSC Operations Manager and ask her to contact the other Ironbound League Club on your behalf. She will ask you for your arrival/departure dates and your vessel’s length, draft and weight. Do not call the other club directly.
Wait for confirmation.
Arrive with your vessel.
Since this is a best-effort agreement among clubs, they may not make a mooring or slip available to you.
Will I always be assigned a mooring or slip at the other Ironbound League Club?
No. This is a best-effort agreement among clubs. They may have special events, maintenance, or nearing capacity. Assigning you a mooring or slip is at their discretion.
Can I organize events between Ironbound League Clubs?
Yes! This is your sailing club, and everyone is encouraged to get involved to promote sailing and camaraderie under this agreement. Send our Operations Manager an email, and let her know you have an idea for an event.
Can any club join the Ironbound League?
Any club can join if all of the current members agree. By design, the clubs are distanced enough to ensure the journey takes effort. If you know of a club interested in joining, please reach-out directly to the Commodore.
