Keelboat Racing
SMSC has a very active keelboat racing program. From June through August, keelboat racing takes place every Wednesday night. There are also many weekend races and the Fall Series on Sundays.
Message from your Fleet Captain,
Hey SMSC members, let's go racing! Our revised schedule and rule changes are posted in the NOR and SI Amendments below. Don't forget to complete and email your completed registration to seniorfleet@smsc.ca prior to your first race of the season.
I'll summarize a few of the key changes to this year's program:
- The series schedules are a bit different (Family Bubble Series 1 & 2, and the addition of a Solo Series), starting Wednesday, June 17th.
- Autopilots are permitted to encourage participation
- The Solo Series permits only one person onboard, wearing a PFD while racing
- Sail Nova Scotia has provided clubs some guidance for racing
- Skippers are required to keep a log of race participants on their boats, with contact information.
- Skippers are clean and sanitize high contact areas on your boat, before and after racing.
- Skippers are encouraged to have their crew bring their own PFD, rather than sharing.
- Skippers are to encourage their crew to wash their hands and clean contact areas following the use of the head.
Let's make the best of this season while keeping our friends and family safe and healthy.
Cheers,
Andrew
